Sandy City – Suburban
Sandy City is known for its close proximity to Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood Canyon. Like the cities to its north boundary, Sandy offers the best in recreational sport including climbing, biking, hiking and skiing.
Sandy is known for its soaring mountain views. Some might say though views are stunning throughout Salt Lake County, the majesty of Sandy views are hard to beat. This is true in particular of the far-east locations.
Local shopping and dining establishments are fewer as one travels south from downtown Salt Lake and Sugarhouse. In place of these options you will find countless upscale shopping options and quality chain dining options such as the Cheesecake Factory, Kneaders Bakery, and Bandit’s Bar and Grill. But, there a few local favorites nearby on the northern end of Sandy and in Cottonwood Heights such as Porcupine Grill, Blue Lemon, Smokey Mountain Pizza, Lone Star Taqueria and Even Stevens. Sandy also offers a quick drive to any major convenience, shopping center, or movie theater.
Home and lot sizes increase in Sandy City, whereas the price per square foot decreases in comparison to those cities further north, closer to downtown Salt Lake. Sandy offers many luxury communities such as Pepperwood Community with soaring mountain views and community center which offers pool, clubhouse and tennis courts. Willow Creek Community offers a bit more diversity in housing and sits on a golf course with views as far as the eye can see. There are many other areas of Sandy offering diverse housing options, in both existing homes and smaller infill new construction communities. Sandy is a 15 - 25 minute drive to downtown Salt Lake and Sugarhouse, depending upon your location.
